TRIMET'S CUSTOMER SERVICE - UPDATE

It started out as a joke but after talking with several people I was encouraged to submit it. When you're talking about ways to curb assaults - nothing and I mean NOTHING should be left out of possibilities.

After hearing nothing I replied back and informed them it was a serious suggestion.

Her response sounds rather rude - robotic. From my experience, Trimet doesn't like suggestions and won't act on them. If they do anything at all it's to keep track of them for statistical purposes only. That's what disconnects them from their Operators, the community and their customers.

I thought if I did it 'cutsie' it'd get some attention - get some minds thinking' about 'possibilities'

Trimet could curb assaults through entertainment.

But will it work?

NOT!!!
when you're talking to deaf ears.

POLICE SEARCHING FOR TEENS WHO SPIT ON, PEPPER SPRAYED BUS DRIVER

Police searching for teens who spit on, pepper sprayed bus driver

Police are searching for these three girls, who they say pepper sprayed and spit on a TriMet driver. The first girl (left) is 5 feet 3 inches tall, 120 pounds, with short hair and a cast on her left arm. The second girl (middle) is 5 feet 5 inches tall. The third girl (right) is 5 feet 7 inches tall, with short hair and glasses. (Portland Police)

Portland police are seeking the public's help to identify three teens who spit on and pepper sprayed a bus driver earlier this month.
Police say the teenage girls boarded a TriMet bus near North Lombard Street and Interstate Avenue on June 9. They pepper sprayed and spit on the driver near Northeast 42nd Avenue and Holman Street at about 11:30 p.m.
Police described the first girl as 5 feet 3 inches tall, 120 pounds, with short hair and a cast on her left arm. The second girl is 5 feet 5 inches tall. The third girl is 5 feet 7 inches tall, with short hair and glasses.
People with information can leave a tip for investigators on Portland police's website.

Note: Years ago Trimet promised to place undercover cops on some of the late night problematic lines. Never fulfilled it. These are not just assaults on our Operators but severe safety problems to our customers and outside traffic. Particularly when you consider the bus is 40' and weighs 20 tons.
Trimet's responsibie for the safety and well being of their workers, customers and the community.  They refuse to be proactive even after horrendous events.
My thoughts are with the Operator. Hope he or she's OK.  Getting back in the seat is the worst. Having a manager ask you what you did to provoke it is equally stressful.

MAX OPERATOR ASSAULTED - DOES TRIMET BARE ANY RESPONSIBILITY - PART THREE

Man arrested after MAX driver assaulted

One week after the stabbing deaths on MAX, a MAX Operator gets assaulted.

From the article:

"Passengers pulled the operator away from Caldwell, who ran away."

"The security presence was increased after three people were stabbed on a MAX train last week."

From last week's stabbing, via KGW

"Spokeswoman Roberta Altstadt said TriMet is working closely with the Portland Police Bureau, transit police and other agencies to put more officers on trains and more security personnel on platforms."

"Trimet is increasing our security presence and remains fully committed our employees and riders."

Hmmm...

STABBINGS ON MAX - DOES TRIMET MANAGEMENT BARE ANY RESPONSIBILITY - PART TWO

Part Two

The more this rattles around my brain the more pissed I become. Transit police can be called for incidents on MAX and the Bus's, BUT, their first responsibility is to the City. They only respond to Trimet when they're free. They don't inadvertently ride the system.  There was a time, a couple 'a years ago when our Union said they'd be riding at night. I drove some of the late night problem lines, never had a cop - in or out of uniform on my Bus. It was a promise they didn't fulfill.

Throughout the years, they saw the assault incident reports pile up, Trimet Management and the Board of Directors heard the stories from Operators and ATU but instead of responding to our pleas for assistance they instead chose to play games with our safety by putting security guards on for a while, then taking security off.

Trimet has two security guards sitting at the receptionist desk at Center Street. They also walk around the property. None that I know of on the Buses or the Trains. These young men died trying to help Trimet customers who were the victims of Militant Terrorist Extremism.  In these times of Trump and Terrorism, Trimet should've been prepared. They knew from the riots and mass shootings taking place all over the world and the country that these are not normal times...  why should they, why would they assume Portland's exempt?!!

They knew from our calls for help that SECURITY needed to be watching our backs and our customers backs instead of sitting in the receptionist area of Center Street.

Micah David - Cole Fletcher  21

"Fletcher, an aspiring poet, is slowly improving in an area hospital, said his girlfriend, Miranda Helm.
“He’s getting a little bit stronger,” she said Sunday. “He’s getting good rest. He’s finally able to eat now.”
Helm said Fletcher wants to meet the man he credits with helping to save him.
The unidentified man rushed to Fletcher’s side and used a cloth to apply pressure to his wound. He also found Fletcher’s cell phone and looked through the contacts to find someone to call. He saw a contact for “mom,” said Helm."  OregonLive
